Rising out of the heart of the Genesee River valley, Swain Resort has stood as an independent family owned ski resort since 1947. Swain Resort is the oldest continuously running ski resort in New York State.
Operating four lifts over 120 acres, Swain offers a 650’ vertical drop, two terrain parks, a ski school and magic carpet for new skiers and a race-course on the weekends. The mountain has 97% snowmaking capability. The resort includes a restaurant and bar, lounge and cafeteria for dining as well as stunning slope-side lodging.
But those are just the numbers. Swain is more than a business or a ski resort in the hearts and minds of the locals of Allegany County – it’s an institution. It’s home. It’s where we grew up, it’s where we learned to ski, and it’s where we went after school and on the weekends with ski club. Swain is a part of us and it’s in our blood.
Come experience the magic for yourself. The Mountain Side Inn and Condos are ready to welcome you with 12 units that are perfect for single or multi-family getaways. Room rates are extremely affordable, and Swain offers ski and stay packages to get the most out of your winter excursion!
As a family friendly resort, Swain offers many programs that cater to kids and families, in addition to all- inclusive beginner packages and private or group lessons for all levels. Several ski-school options for children during the weekends and holidays help take young skiers to the next level. Glacier Riders Camp is a three-day workshop that runs directly after Christmas and during President’s week in February. Skiers and riders who would like to continue the fun can enroll in Trail Blazers camp which runs for six weeks beginning in January. Swain has truly dedicated instructors that want to see their students improve and grow in a love for the sport.
Swain also offers a women’s clinic each year for new skiers that would like to get familiar with the sport in a comfortable and fun environment.
During the off-season, Swain Resort offers festivals and activities throughout the summer and fall months – including a popular mud run event, Swamp Stomp and Beer Fest in October. There is also an Escape Room on site, open year round, for groups, clubs or parties.
No matter the season, everyone who skis, stays or plays here feels a special bond to Swain – it’s the charm of this beautiful place. Everyone who comes here leaves with a little piece of Swain on their hearts. Join us this ski season to see why we say – It’s a Swain Day!
